COVID-19 Safety Measures
Generic Ministry is an all-volunteer organization. We care about the health and safety of our volunteers as much as we care about the people we help in Boston each week.
Beginning July 8, the following safety measures have been established for anyone volunteering with Generic Ministry:
Delivering Supplies to Boston
Anyone riding the Generic Ministry Van will wear a mask and gloves at all times.
The non-driving Van Volunteer can choose to follow the van to its destination. At each stop, the volunteer can park nearby and assist with handing out supplies before returning to his/her/their own vehicle.
Donating Supplies
All supplies can be dropped off on porches at 25 Bradford Street or 82 Deerfield Road (both in Needham). Items stay on the porches a minimum of 48 hours before they are moved or touched.
Supplies can also be shipped to those same addresses. The same “package isolation” approach is applied.
Items that we desperately need are noted below. Our Amazon Wish List is also an easy way to send us supplies.
-- Adult sweatshirts, especially hoodies
-- Adult MENs jeans
-- Weatherproof (not wool) winter coats
-- Hats and gloves
-- Masks
-- Travel-Size Toiletries (soap, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste and wipes).
Organizing Supply Drives
Yes! You can organize your own Supply Drive. Simply decide which item you’d like to collect, promote your drive on social media, with flyers, in emails etc. Ask people to deliver the items contact-free to YOUR porch. Just leave a bin outside with a sign. When it is full, email us and we’ll come empty it (with masks and gloves on, of course!). We’ll even provide the sign if you’d like!
Creating Personal Sanitation Kits
Our homeless clients need access to soap and water more than ever before. That’s why we’re trying to give them several individual Personal Sanitation Kits. Each kit contains a small bar of soup, wash cloth and a small bottle of water.
This is a great activity for kids! Simply order the supplies and assemble at your home, then deliver them to our porch.
We are happy to meet you (from afar and with masks!) and tell you and your kids about Generic Ministry, our work and why their help is so needed and generous. Just email us and we can plan ahead!
